Medina leaves old models of governing behind, official

Santo Domingo.- PresidentDanilo Medina concludes his third year in office with more than half a millionDominicans who’ve been pull out of poverty, creating 354,618 jobs; 18,000 newclassrooms built and 109 surprise visits, which led to RD$10.0 billion in loansto small and medium producers and businesses around the country.

Administrative ministerJose Ramon Peralta provided the figures Wed. during a luncheon to mark Medina´sthird year in office with journalists from various media.

Peralta said Medina´ administrationhas stood for "governing with all and for all" and has shown that it’spossible for "social and economic policies ´to walk hand in hand" andprovide response to the needs of Dominican families.

He said the effectivepolicies have left behind the old models which wrongly dictated that it wasonly possible for a group to rule over others. "Our starting point hasalways been to seek to improve the lives of Dominican families and bring wellbeingand that´s what a number of initiatives and social policies reflect."
