Townsfolk doubt Medina will rebuild their rugged ´tourist´ road

Santiago.- Residents of40 villages along the Gregorio Luperon tourist road, which links them to PuertoPlata province and other north coast towns, say they doubt the government willrebuild the rugged road.

Heavy equipmentarrived in the villages La Tinaja and Los Quemados several days ago and startedworking to expand the road and remove the ruined asphalt.

Although the crews currentlywork seven days per week, some residents who´ve given up hope that theGovernment can provide their main desire: conclude the reconstruction of the deteriorated47-kilometer stretch.
