Demand of better services sparks protests across the North

Santiago.- Severalprotests were unleashed Wednesday in north region towns against what theorganizers say is the government´s failure to solve the people´s demands suchas better services of electricity, health, roads, water, among others, which officialsdon’t provide definite solutions.

From SantiagoRodriguez in the northwest border to the northeastern tip of Nagua, as well ascentral La Vega, San Francisco and Santiago, inhabitants express discontent andvow more protests to get their problems solve, as officials keep mum.

The most recentprotests emerged in Santiago Rodriguez where a 24-hour work stoppage brought thetown to a halt, as organizers say had the support of more than 98% of transportunions and businesses.
