Active tropics could end Dominican Republic´s 12-month drought

Santo Domingo.- TheNational Weather Office (Onamet) forecasts moderate showers from a tropicalwave over the Mona Passage which will reach the country Wednesday afternoon.

The expected downpourstogether with the recent rains over most of the country and tropical systemsheading west could signal the end of the drought which had parched the countrysince Sept. last year.

Onamet said all provincescan expect downpours, except the south and southwest.

It said the tropicalwave will still be moving over the country on Thursday, with moderate to scatteredshowers over the southeast, northeast, southwest, and the central and northernmountains.
