Olympic dream over for Dominican basketball team

Mexico City.– The Dominican basketball team can kiss goodbye to its hopes of qualifying for next year’s Rio de Janeiro Olympics after finishing 6th in the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship held in Mexico City.

Dominicans lost to Canadians who closed out the second round with a convincing 120-104 win on Wednesday, but Venezuelans gave the North Americans a fighting lesson by beating Canada 79-78 in the Semifinals.

The Gold Medal game of the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship between Argentina and Venezuela will be played today at 20.30hs (local time in Mexico). Both teams qualified to Rio de Janeiro 2016.
