Dominican Republic gets failing grade in Web access: EFE

Santo Domingo.- DominicanRepublic figures among the countries with the lowest scores in households withinternet access in Latin America, EFE reports.

The recent report "The ecosystem and thedigital economy in Latin America" by the Economic Commission for LatinAmerica (ECLA) says the country was infourth place among those with the lowest access to Internet.

The report, whichmeasured 15 Latin American countries (2013 figures), said Internet access inurban areas doesn´t reach 40% of households,and just over 20% in rural areas.

The study notes thatin Dominican Republic´s case rural areas have more internet access inhouseholds than those in urban areas.
