Dominican Republic announces rules for drone

Santo Domingo.- Thehead of Dominican Republic´s Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC) on Monday announcedrestrictions to operate drones over the country, to definitively regulate smallremote-control aircraft.

Alejandro Herreranoted however that the regulation is temporary, and also innovative because theDominican Republic is among the few countries which have submitted theinitiative to the International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO.

The official said the provision obliging drone operators toobtain official authorization takes effect the next few days. “The personswho want to operate those gadgets haveto come to this agency to obtain an operating permit.”
