Busy airport gets 3 new X-ray scanners

Santo Domingo.- Dominicanairports management contractor Aerodom on Monday began installing three X-ray scannersto check passengers and baggage at Las Americas Airport.

The installation ofthe machines in Las Americas terminal will conclude Wednesday, with which Aerodomresponds to a request by Airports Dept. director Marino Collante, to replace theobsolete equipment.

The new equipmentwill speed up the checks on the thousands of passengers who depart via LasAmericas daily, and could also detect and prevent the entry of banned articlesand substances into the planes.

The three machines, whosecost wasn’t revealed, work with the Dual System; an enhanced ability to detectany dangerous object and alert security at once.
