All Dominican hands needed for world beach cleanup day

Santo Domingo.-The Ministry of Environment and civil society organizations on Thursday calledfor a of beach of and river cleaning day across the country, and join dozens ofnations which will use volunteers in that effort.

The cleanupwill be held on Sept. 19, within Ademi Bank´s “3Rs" Program” and withvolunteers of the Agricultural and Forestry Development Center (CEDAF) and the EnvironmentMinistry which urge the population to join the activity.

In a pressrelease, the entities says the beach cleanup day cover 67% of the coasts along 17maritime provinces, adding that the event is held in more than 123 countriesand attracts thousands of people who gather to collect solid waste frombeaches, rivers and wetlands as evidence of increasing pollution on beaches,riverbanks and coasts.
