All fixed roads lead to new north coast cruise port

Puerto Plata.- PublicWorks minister Gonzalo Castillo and technicians and officials on Tuesday visitedseveral road works under construction in Puerto Plata, including the expansionto four lanes of the road to Maimon township, home to a new cruise port.

During the tour the techniciansprovided details on the work such as repairs to streets, avenues and roads,cleanup of storm drains, road shoulders and landscaping, painting of bridgesand walls, installation of road signs and speed bumps in various sectors.

"We are here on PresidentDanilo Medina´s instructions to dress Puerto Plata in its finery to mark thearrival of the first cruise tourists who come to contribute to the province´s economicwellbeing," the official said.

Castillo added that Carnival´scruise ship port is set to open on Nov. 6, when thousands of tourists willstart arriving at Amber Cove, in Bahia Maimon.
