Dominican freedom fighter Hamlet Hermann dies at age 81

Santo Domingo.- Freedomfighter Hamlet Hermann died from a heartattack on Tuesday at the age of 81.

He was revolutionaryactivist who took part in the April 1965 Revolution and accompanied

guerrilla leadercolonel Francisco Alberto Caamaño´s expedition in 1973, from which he survivedtogether with Claudio Caamaño and Toribio Peña Jáquez.

An engineer by profession,the Santo Domingo native was the first ever director of the MetropolitanTransit Authority (Amet) and wrote several texts, including a biography on Caamaño.
