All agencies join to halt the spread of zika

Santo Domingo.- The governmenton Thursday instructed all state agencies to support the Public Health Ministry´ssocial mobilization to prevent zika and other mosquito-transmitted diseases byeliminating their breeding sites and guidance for citizens.

The authorities have instructedthe ministers of Education, Defense and Public Works, and the heads of otheragencies to attend a meeting at Public Health headquarters.

Public Health ministerAltagracia Guzman said the mobilization will continue through tomorrow, withthe support of city councils, with fumigations to eradicate mosquito larvae in watercontainers.

The municipalities andtheir staff are also expected to participate in the nationwide effort toprevent the spread of the diseases including dengue and chikungunya.
