Construction competes with tourism as the Dominican economy´s darling

Santo Domingo.- Constructionhas become the main drive for the Dominican economy´s robust figures during thelast two years, with 10 consecutive quarters of double-digit growth, well aheadof the around 8% increase in the tourism sector.

A Central Bank report on the economy during 2015says construction grew 18.2%.

Central banker HectorValdez Albizu on Wednesday said the construction sector has grown consistentlyover 10% quarterly since mid-2013, paced by the October-December 2013 period of20.8%.
