Santo Domingo.- DominicanRepublic Hotels and Tourism Association (ASONAHORES) president Simon Suarez on Tuesdayasked president Danilo Medina to include China on the list of countries whose nationalscan visit with just a tourist card.
He said the country isat the forefront of the trend to eliminate the traditional visa for travelers,a policy he affirms the World Tourism Organization (OMT) promotes to facilitateglobal movement.
Suarez said citizens from145 nationals can now enter the country as tourists with just a tourist card,which can be bought at the airport ticket counter, and China is the only majorsources of tourists which is not on that list still.
He stressed China wasthe fastest growing tourism source market in 2014 and went on to lead intourist spending because Chinese travelers spent 165 billion dollars, the US 112billion and Germany 92 billion.
