Doctors to walkout of all public hospitals on Wednesday

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican medical association (CMD) andother health sector guilds on Monday announced a nationwide walkout nextWednesday in public and Dominican Social Security Institute (IDSS) hospitals todemand a wage increase and other benefits.

They said the key to stop the strike and improve the healthworkers’ labor conditions is in president Danilo Medina’s hands.

Quoted by local media, CMD president Waldo A. Suero said duringthe 24-hour strike, the doctors will only attend emergencies and critically illpatients.

The walkout set for Wednesday will be the third within thelast seven days, with the first two staged in the north and south regions.
