Medina wants Southwest’s votes, townsfolk want promises kept

Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina on Sunday visited Southwestregion towns to ask their inhabitants’ vote for four more years, but beforecasting their ballots they want him to keep his 2012 campaign promise of solvingbasic problems such as water for farms.

Medina had promised to build the dam at Monte Grande tosupply piped water for homes and farms and even jobs for people of the EnriquilloRegion, formed by Bahoruco, Independencia and Pedernales Barahona provinces.

"President there are no wells and without wells thereare no votes," read one of the posters pictured by listin.com.do, which receivedMedina in a town of Bahoruco.

Aware of the situation the president visited El Saladovillage, Galván township as recently as last week, when he instructed the DominicanAgrarian Institute to build at least two wells at the site.
