Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s State owned electric utility(CDEEE) on Monday said it has released "all" the available informationin its files that were required by the sectors taking part in the talks leadingto an electricity pact.
CDEEE CEO Ruben Jimenez Bichara’s announcement comes just hoursafter the think tank Centro Bono accused the utility of lacking transparencyand of taking part in “ghost contracts."
He said they are obtaining data from related sources, butwhich aren’t directly produced by the CDEEE.
In a missive to monsignor Agripino Nuñez, who coordinatesthe talks on the electric pact, Jimenez said he had provided a detailed accountof the requests for information received and on each response.
Among the entities which request information figure the NationalBusiness Council (CONEP), and the main opposition party (PRM).
The official defended his "commitment to theprinciples of transparency and publicity of its administrative actions," addingthat the solution to the electricity sector’s structural crisis can only resultfrom "objective and disinterested consensus of all political, economic andsocial forces involved."
