Jet lands at Punta Cana after engine failure, passengers unscathed

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.-A Boeing 777-200 with 351 Russian tourists and 20 crew on board made anemergency landing Wednesday night at Punta Cana Airport (east) after one of itsengines caught fire more than two hours into its flight toward Moscow.

Local media to initial report that the Air Orenair airlineflight 554 took off at 6:05pm yesterday from Punta Cana, and reported a failurein one engine, forcing the crew to make an emergency landing at 8:45pm, after circlingover the area for around two hours.

According to the reports, theplane was carrying more than 80 tons of fuel for the flight, part of which hadto be dumped before attempting the landing.
