Panama officials tour biggest Dominican power plant

Santo Domingo.- A delegation of senior Panama governmentofficials visited the AES Andres power complex in Boca Chica, the country’sbiggest generation facility, where they were shown how natural gas-fired powerplants generate electricity.

As part of the tour AES Dominicana president Edwin De losSantos described the innovative business model which has made AES Dominicana thecountry’s most competitive power company, “enabling savings of more than RD$1.8billion in the last ten years.”

"This infrastructure has allowed Dominican Republic tocount with an alternative option in the fuel matrix, which is of national andregional high importance to continue the development of infrastructure to allowdistribution, including our project to build a pipeline to the East which will generatearound 1000 MW natural gas-based, and contribute mainly to the climate changeagenda of the Dominican Republic through the reduction of more than one millionmetric tons of CO2," the executivesaid in a statement

Panama ambassador Quintero Luna headed the delegation thatincluded the ministers of the Presidency Carlos Meta Duboy; of Justice MiltonHenriquez and Panama vice consul Carlos Gonzalez, in addition to Dominican schoolnutrition consultant, Will Lajara.

The AES hosts included corporate communications vicepresident Germán Toro Ghio, commercial director Freddy Obando, AES COO MoisesGoico, Andres Safety/Environment chief Rita Tirado and Public Relations and CSRdirector Bredyg Disla.
