Northeast road, from dream to reality

Santo Domingo.- Construction of the Miches-Sabana de la Mar(northeast) road is over 95 percent complete and is expected to be finished bythe end of February.

The Public Works Ministry said the road has been demanded bythe various communities which for decades have been isolated from the Eastregion’s tourist resorts and the rest of the country.

The 40-kilometer span, which is part of the Bavaro-UveroAlto-Miches-Sabana de la Mar Road Project, completes the 112-kilometer Eastern RoadGrid, which together gives a major push to the region’s tourism development.

Public Works said construction of the Miches-Sabana de laMar road had been a dream for many of the locals, “but today it has become areality.”
