Dominican cement makers tout advantages of concrete infrastructure

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s cement makers(ADOCEM) onTuesday hosted the conference-workshop "Positive Impact of ConcretePavement on Sustainable Infrastructure," with the participation of Inter-AmericanDevelopment Bank (IDB) Transport Infrastructure consultant Fernando Abraham.

Adocem, executive director Julissa Baez said the activity heldat Blue Mall JW Marriott hotel aims to give professionals in construction andrelated areas a better understanding and awareness among.

"It’s essentially to spread and raise awareness amongstakeholders and industry players on the progress and solutions reached in thedesign, construction and maintenance of concrete and cement structures, in thecontext of research in this field," Baez said.

She said the workshop program covers general concepts ofRoller Compacted Concrete (RCC) and its application in infrastructure projects,technologies for rural roads, "UNICAPA" as well as the successfulexperiences of concrete pavements in Colombia and its economic benefits.

"And in our status as an integral link in the valuechain of the construction industry, we are committed to providing solutionsthat result in significant improvements to infrastructure construction in concrete,and in turn, refine the methods of building and design in existinginfrastructures," added the executive director of Adocem, which groups thecompanies, Cemex Dominicana. Argos, Cementos Cibao and Domicem.
