Tel Aviv-Punta Cana direct flights start October

Santo Domingo.- The Civil Aviation Board (JAC) on Wednesdayannounced approval of s permit for Tel Aviv-Punta Cana charter flights by Israel’sEl Al Airlines starting Oct. 2016, with B777 aircraft.

Also approved were Mexico City-Santo Domingo weekly flightsby Mexican carriers Aeromexico and Aeroliteral, expected to fly 100,000 passengersper year.

Both airlines are slated to start regular operations in lateMarch.

Civil Aviation Board president Roger Jover said the newdirect route will benefit thousands of travelers who won’t have to go throughthird countries to fly from Mexico to the Dominican Republic.

“The newly approved routes correspond to Dominican Republic’sopen skies policy following the directives from president Danilo Medina, to increasinglyexpand the country’s connectivity with the world, while enabling thedevelopment of new markets for tourism, trade and international investment,” theJAC said in a statement.
