Nine quakes stir the country within 48 hours

SantoDomingo.- Dominican Republic detected nine quakes during the last 48 hours, ofmagnitudes between 2.21 and 4.10, the Santo Domingo State University (UASD) NationalSeismology Center reported Friday.

All but twoof the tremors occurred in Pedernales (southwest).

Seismologysaid the center of the strongest of the quakes, 4.10, occurred 10 kilometersnorth of Mona Island in Mona Passage, at a depth of 117.40 KM, at 3:06am Friday,at 18.19 latitude north latitude and 67.89 west longitude.
