Santo Domingo.- interim Haiti president Jocelerme Priverton Sunday said only cordial dialogue guarantees coexistence between DominicanRepublic and Haiti, since the Hispaniola neighbors are “condemned to live inharmony.”
"I have confirmed that through dialogue andunderstanding we can look for any solution that can arise. Relations have beencordial because we share the same island, similar situations. We are condemnedto live in harmony and dialogue, there is no other way to live," he said.
On Dominican Republic’s immigration policy, Privert said herespects its measures adopted within its Constitution and laws.
"I respect the law and the Constitution of anycountry, in the same way I respect the rights of people living in my country,just as respect the rights of citizens living in the two parts of theisland," Privert said, interviewed by NCDN.
He urged Haitians living abroad not to lose hope on theirhomeland. “My message to all Haitians living in the Dominican Republic orelsewhere in the world, is that when you want to return, you can find work and hope.”
