Gay US envoy’s visit to Dominican schoolkids sparks backlash

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Teachers Association (ADP) presidentEduardo Hidalgo on Wednesday asked the Education Ministry to bar US ambassadorJames W. Brewster and HIS husband Bob J. Satawake from visiting public orprivate schools.

He said the diplomat has every right to his sexualpreference, but in a school, it’s the rights of the children that should beprotected.

"The Ambassador of the United States, as they say inthe Dominican Republic, went too far, and must respect the Dominicanpopulation, just like Eduardo Hidalgo, as a teacher, as a citizen respects his(the diplomat’s) and his nation," said the also deputy of the ruling PLDparty, when asked about Brewster’s controversial visit to a school in Santiago.

The lawmaker asked the Education Ministry to explain both tothe ADP and Dominican society, the visit by the diplomat and his husband to theschool.

Meanwhile an online petition aimed at getting Barack Obamato recall James Brewster for promoting the LGBT agenda has exceeded 10,000signatures, but requires 100,000 to generate a response from the While House.
