Earth Hour: Turn off the lights 8:30-9:30pm Saturday

Santo Domingo.- The local coordinator of the environmentalinitiative Earth Hour on Thursday called on citizens to turn off the lights intheir homes on Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30pm.

In a National Palace press conference, Eddy Vasquez said EarthHour urges the people to adopt a greener lifestyle and noted that several companiesand institutions pledged to turn off their lights that day, including AgoraMall and Galeria 360, and Santiago’s Monument to the Heroes.

He said for this third year the National Palace and severalgovernment agencies will join Earth Hour, which is being celebrated in 7,000 citiesin 172 countries during the past 10 years.
