Santo Domingo.- The traffic and transport system of DominicanRepublic’s biggest metropolitan area has collapsed, an unfortunate realityfacing all sectors which are compelled to seek solutions to the prevailingchaos, which can only deepen with thepassage of time.
Dominican Engineers, Architects and Surveyors Guild (CODIA)president Francisco Mosquea made the ominous warning Wednesday during hisspeech to inaugurate the International Congress on Transport.
He compares traveling through streets and avenues at any timeof the day or night with a “gauntlet, because in his view affects the citizens’pockets and their physical and emotional stability.
He said the situation has prompted the CODIA to organize theconference in which government agencies and private institutions participate directlyto seek solutions for the transport sector and hear suggestions and opinionsthat can avert a further collapse in traffic.
Mosquea said during three days of the conclave thetransport problems will be analyzed jointly with foreign experts whosecontributions and observations world to solve some of the problems GreaterSanto Domingo’s traffic morass.
