Judges in ‘rulings for sale’ scandal face hearing today

Santo Domingo.- A National District court on Monday willhear the appeal to the ruling of house arrest for suspended judge Awilda Reyes andformer Judicial County member Francisco Arias, the main defendants in the “rulingsfor sale” scandal involving an alleged ring of hired killers.

The announced hearing comes after the 1st Appellate Court hadruled against Arias’ challenge to judge Doris Pujols.

The Justice Ministry’s Anticorruption Prosecution Dept. (Pepca)had appealed the ruling of house arrest against the accused handed down by judge3rd Criminal Court judge Ramona Rodriguez.

Arias and Beltre were indicted on prevarication and bribery,in connection with the case of Edinson de los Santos, charged with heading aring of hired killers linked to at least five murders.
