Medina widens presidential race lead to 63%: Gallup

Santo Domingo.- Ifthe general elections were held today Dominican Republic president and candidateDanilo Medina will easily win a second term on May 15 with 63% in the firstround.

The latest Gallup-Hoy survey says Luis Abinader, presidentialcandidate of the opposition PRM party, will place second with 29% of the vote.

Medina, of the ruling party (PLD), has held a strong leadin previous Gallup polls published since January (51.8%) and March (60.3%).

Abinader, meanwhile, in the same periods had a voteintention of 35.7% and 30.6%, with a downward trend.

The survey conducted from April 13 to 19 has a margin oferror of plus or minus 2.4%s.

It says Guillermo Moreno, at 3.2%, heads the other candidatesof the minority parties, all of whom scoring less than 1%.
