Dominicans mark 51 years since the War of infamy

Santo Domingo.- 51 years have passed since the infamous Warof April 1965, with the second American military occupation of the Dominican Republicin the 20th Century.

The popular uprising which quickly became the Revolutionarose out of thousands of civilians and military who joined the movement, headed by Col. Francisco Alberto Caamaño Deño, who sought the return of the legitimate and constitutional government of the lateformer president Juan Bosch, who with just seven months in office wasoverthrown on September 25, 1963.

Former Constitutional fighters stress the importance of theheroic event they says should be taught with more rigor in schools, so presentand future generations can be aware and vigilant, so that a legitimategovernment would never be overthrown again.
