Downpours continue: Agency raises flash-flood alerts to warning

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) on Thursdayissued a flash flood warning for central La Vega and Monseñor Noel provinces,just hours after the National Weather Office (Onamet) issued a similar alert.

The COE reiterated that persons living in low-lying areas shouldbe on the alert for overflowing rivers and landslides, and extended the warningto Santiago, Santo Domingo, San Pedro, Monte Plata, La Altagracia and La Romanaprovinces. “The measure is taken under today’s bulletin o which states that soilsare saturated due to the continue downpours.”

The Onamet said the moderate to heavy showers result from troughover the country’s eastern region, which will continue to bring downpours withthunderstorms.
