Dominican mines agency, Commonwealth nations to sign major pact

Santo Domingo.- The bi-national chambers of commercegrouped in the Roundtable of Commonwealth Countries in the Dominican Republic, andthe Oil and Mining Chamber of the Dominican Republic (CAMIPE) will sign acooperation agreement on Wednesday, to coordinate efforts to maximizeopportunities in the mining, oil and gas exploration sectors, between theDominican Republic and Commonwealth nations.

The world’s major mining and oil operations are found inthe Commonwealth countries.

Mining has become the Dominican Republic’s main foreignexchange earner and has begun oil exploration programs.

The agreement will be signed in the Santo Domingo Chamberof Commerce by the presidents of the chambers of commerce of Britain, Canada,India, Trinidad and South Africa.

The ambassadors from Britain, Canada and the consuls ofTrinidad, India and Malaysia will attend the ceremony as witnesses.

Roundtable

The Round Table of Commonwealth Countries in the DominicanRepublic is an institution that promotes bilateral, economic, social andpolitical relations between the Dominican Republic and the Commonwealthcountries in the world.

Chamber

The mission of the Mining and Oil Chamber of the DominicanRepublic is to advocate for the development, dynamism and growth of the Mining-PetroleumSector; promoting the development of the mining and oil activity; promoting theDominican Republic as a destination for domestic private investment andforeign, by transfer and use of appropriate technologies and the development ofhuman resources by applying sustainable criteria in environmental protection.
