Santiago.- President Danilo Medina on Tuesday launched the “Digital Republic,” a projectthat aims to achieve Dominican Republic’s cyber development.
He said the plan will be a technological revolution thatwill boost the Dominicans’ level to the international market on Web use. "Youcan be sure that in the same way we comply with education we will in the same alsocomply with the new Digital Republic program."
He said the initiative aims to provide around one millioncomputers to students and teachers who receive prior training.
It will also provide broadband internet in public spacesand Dominican homes, with the installation of more than 500 kilometers of fiberoptic cable.
Medina added that through the Digital Republic will havefree access to public information, for transparency in government. "WithDigital Republic we have more transparency, more agile procedures andcomfortable for users and new services with less red tape."
