‘Human chain’ protest again demands a manual vote count

Santo Domingo.- The grassroots movement Poder Ciudadano(citizen power) again staged a human chain outside Central Electoral Board headquarters, where they reiterated their protest against the agency’s decision to count thevotes electronically.

They said the Board’s resolutions are contrary to equalityunder law when in their view, establish partial enforcement.

"Since it (JCE) guarantees only the manual count of thepresidential vote, they treat the other election for congressional and municipalcandidates differently, these being the defining representations closest to thelives of the citizens," Poder Ciudadano said in the document delivered atthe JCE offices.

The organization also called the electronic vote count anarbitrary law that affects citizens who exercise their right to vote.
