Upset unseats Dominican capital’s mayor

Santo Domingo.- Opposition party (PRM) candidate DavidCollado heads to a major upset over incumbent Roberto Salcedo for mayor theNational District, with 56.71 percent, according to preliminary polling resultsSunday night.

At 11.37pm Collado was 20 points ahead of Salcedo’s 37.16percent of the votes.

All major polls had given Salcedo a sizeable lead.

In the National District Senate seat, incumbent ReinaldoPared has 55 percent vs. Alberto Atallah with 34.87 percent.
