Flash flood warnings, rainy weekend

Santo Domingo.-The National Weather Office (Onamet) on frieday forecast continuing downpours over much of the country throughthe rest of May, as two troughs willconverge in the coming days.

It said Fridaywill be overcast with scattered showers and thunderstorms for all regionsexcept the Southwest.

“Rainfallwill increase during the weekend and will be accompanied by thunderstorms andgusty winds, being more frequent in the east region, northeastern border area,northwest line, Cibao Valley and Central Mountains.”

Onamet addsthat urban and rural areas continue under flash flood and landslide warningsfrom swelled rivers.
