Post-election turmoil: Troops posted near hunger strikers

Santo Domingo.- A Special Military Operations patrol hasbeen posted one block from a church in the barrio Ensanche Ozama, where threeformer candidates for mayor of San Luis township had announced a pressconference for 10am.

Local media report that 10 solders with rifles remain onsurveillance at the corner of Sabana Larga with Club Rotario avenues, where acommission of the major opposition PRM party are expected to attend the conference.

PRM general secretary Jesus Vasquez (Chu) will head the PRMcommission that will visit the place were minority opposition party candidate ManuelJimenez, among others, are on a hunger strike.
