Spain extradites Dominican charged in RD$38.0M heist

Santo Domingo.- The Spanish government on Tuesday handedover in extradition Dominican national Esterlin Rikervin Vilorio, charged,along with eight others, with the heist of RD$38.0 million from a CaribbeanExpress armored truck, posing as soldiers and police.

Viloria "El Grande," arrived in at Las Americas Airportescorted by Spanish agents on a Air Europa flight, from Madrid.

Upon arrival at the airport the inmate’s custody was handedover to Immigration officials and terminal Security officers, and taken toNational Police headquarters, escorted by four SWAT vehicles.

The heist occurred 14 kilometers north of the capital on the Duarte highway on January 14, 2014, andshortly after other alleged gang members were apprehended and sent to prison toawait trial.

Interpol arrested "El Grande," as he callshimself, in Madrid, where he had fled from the Dominican Republic.
