Medina to test ride capital’s US$385M Metro’s 2nd line extension(Update)

Santo Domingo.- Opret announces on Facebook that president Medina will take a test ride on Thursday.

FILE- Since Fridaythe agency which manages the subways (Opret) makes "adjustments" tothe extension of the Santo Domingo Metro’s 2nd line, where presidentDanilo Medina is expected take its first ride before the end of his term inoffice on August 16.

One year ago the Opret set the first week of May as thedate for the Metro line 2-B’s first test run, or just before the generalelections.

When asked about the start of the test runs, Opret deputydirector Leonel Carrasco said the adjustments have already been made, and promisedto keep the media informed.

He said he can’t reveal when Medina will take the first rideon the mass transit system built at a cost of around US$385 million, includingsix new trains and 18 cars. "We’llcall to give you all the details and set a date."
