Record of 8.85 million mobile lines in February: Indotel

Santo Domingo.- In February 2016 a total of 8.85 million mobile lines were in operation in the Dominican Republic, compared with 8.82 million a month earlier.

According to the Dominican Telecomm Institute (Indotel), of the total, 6.89 million were pre-paid lines and 1.96 million were post-paid.

The data published by Indotel reveals that in terms of market share, Compania Dominicana de Telefonos/Claro had 4.51 million lines (4.48 million in January), followed by Orange Dominicana/Altice with 3.61 million (3.59 million in January), Trilogy Dominicana at 424,940 (428,461 in January) and Tricom with 307,997 (309,329 in December).

The number of local fixed lines in operation amounted to 1.15 million (unchanged), of which Compania Dominicana de Telefonos/Claro had 804,268 (802,063 in January), followed by Tricom 199,907 (203,094 in December), Trilogy Dominicana with 122,739 (121,624 in January), Skymax with 20,643 (23,900 in January) and Wind Telecom with 1,819 (1,833 in January).
