Environment seizes 9 endangered parrot chicks from poacher

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry Environment on Tuesday seizednine chicks of the endangered parrot species Amazona ventralis, which poachers hadcaptured at Valle Nuevo National Park, Constanza as they were about to be sold.

In a statement Environment said the chicks were seized fromRamon Garcia (Ramon Guandulito), who will be fined and charged with violating Environmentand Natural Resources Law 64-00.

The parrots were confiscated at Valle Nuevo, where EnvironmentBiodiversity deputy minister José Manuel Mateo said the chicks were already fullyfeathered and will be able to fly within two weeks.
