Colombian Buitrago brothers to spend 10 years in prison

Santo Domingo.- A NationalDistrict panel court on Friday sentenced to 10 years in prison the Colombianbrothers Oswaldo Huber and Angel Maria Buitrago, and seven years for Dominican nationalLuisa Maria Abreu, for drug trafficking.

The 3rd three-judge Court convicted the Buitragobrothers and Abreu of drug trafficking, money laundering, forgery, illegal weaponspossession and identity theft, as part of an international ring, from whichauthorities have seized more than US$2 million worth of properties.

The Anti-Money Laundering Office of the Prosecutor had plea-bargainedwith 20 of the 24 indicted in the case, which led to a brief trial and a lessersentence.
