Agents seize 510 lbs. of marijuana, arrest five

Santo Domingo.- The National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) seized nearly 510 pounds of marijuana and arrested five people during an operation that prevented the drug to enter the Dominican Republic through the border with Haiti.

According to the report, the 510 pounds of marijuana were contained in 111 packages, divided into 11 plastic bags that were hidden in a van-type truck, plate L 272076.

After months of hard work of intelligence and monitoring, the DNCD learned that the truck would cross the border on 22 June and would return from Haiti with an undetermined amount of drugs.

Two days later, on its return, the agents stopped the truck and proceeded to do an inspection with canine units that detected the drug. The DNCD said the seized drug was taken to Forensics (INACIF) for confirmation.
