World tobacco leaders to gather in Santiago

Santo Domingo.- The International Tobacco Growers Association(ITGA) has chosen Dominican Republic’s major tobacco region as the venue for itsMeeting of the Americas 2016.

From Wednesday, June 29 to Thursday June 30, Santiago will be the site for the meeting of theorganization that groups global producers who together account for 90% of the world’stotal tobacco exports.

Local media report that the conclave aims to generatedebates and contributions to the tobacco industry worldwide with special emphasison The Americas’ regional market.

Representatives from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador,United States, Mexico and Nicaragua will attend the meeting that will be headedby ITGA CEO Antonio Abrunhosa, Agriculture minister Angel Estevez, PROCIGAR presidentHendrik Kelner, among other officials and business leaders.
