Dominican Republic athletes to ‘honor the flag’ at Rio

Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina on Wednesday urged DominicanRepublic’s athletes headed to the Olympic Games in Rio, to "put all yourheart, so you can raise the Dominican flag high so we can hear from here theanthem of the Dominican Republic."

Medina spoke in the National Palace during the ceremony tohand over the flag to the Dominican delegation.

The Olympics "are a tough competition, because it’sglobal," Medina said while handing the flag to Dominican Olympic Committeepresident Luis Mejia Oviedo. He said “unevenly developed: nations participate inthose games.

“We’ll honor the flag"

"We guarantee, Mr. President, that we will honor theflag," said Mejia, who thanked Medina once again for receiving theDominican athletes who go to international events such as the Olympic in Rio,
