Downpours taper off tropical wave leaves the national territory

Santo Domingo.- The tropical wave that had unleashed downpours over much of the country Monday continuesto move away from the Dominican Republic, as the National Weather Office –Onamet-forecasts a significant decrease in rainfall.

It said some scattered showers can be expected Tuesdayafternoon over the east region, Central Mountains and border zone from the humiditytropical wave left behind.

Onamet discontinues the alerts of swelled rivers, flashfloods and landslide mostly for the southern provinces and also lifted the samewarnings for the central and east regions, and still in effect forIndependencia and Barahona provinces.

According to the Miami-based National Hurricane Center, thetropical wave has an 80% probability of becoming a tropical cyclone in the next48 hours.
