The US after gun-trafficking fugitive’s whereabouts in Santiago

Santiago.- Investigators from Denver, Colorado met Wednesdaymorning their counterparts in this city, where it emerged that cooperation againstgun trafficking was discussed.

Prosecutor Robert Brown headed the commission which arrivedat the Courthouse at 8:40am and went to the office of Santiago prosecutor LuisaLiranzo.

It was learned that the officials discussed the releaseordered by judge Ingrid Liberato last year of Dominican-American Carmen KatherineO’Neal, charged with smuggling 12 guns through the Cibao International Airport,where she was arrested by Defense Ministry Intelligence (J2).

Once released O’Neal fled the country and reportedly hasanother case pending in the US, for which Brown inquired of her possible whereaboutsin Santiago.

When asked about the case, Liranzo said the US prosecutor’spresence was a matter of international legal cooperation on issues oftransnational crime.
