Opposition deputies protest election results, leave Congress

Santo Domingo.- The deputies of the major opposition party -PRM-took out black scarves and posters in the Lower Chamber to protest allegedirregularities in the May 15 elections.

The pickets read "new pact for democracy" and "Independent high courts."

Alfredo Pacheco, spokesman for the opposition deputies, alsosaid they’ll abandon the National Assembly in protest, before president DaniloMedina’s inaugural.
