Santo Domingo.- Last-minute designations notwithstanding, presidentDanilo Medina left out several officials, all of whom were the target ofcritique for poor performance in their post.
The most notable was the case of Environment minister BautistaRojas, who was the target of criticism for alleged failure to enforceenvironmental laws, and was replaced by Francisco Dominguez, who was JusticeMinister.
Also left out of the government pie was Jaime DavidFernandez, was replaced by Danilo Diaz as Sports Minister, whereas Ligia AmadaMelo was replaced by Alejandrina German in the Higher Education Ministry.
Medina also fired Culture minister Jose Antonio Rodriguez. Customsdirector Fernando Fernandez and Dominican Telecom Institute (Indotel) presidentGideon Santos.
