Downpours drench most of the country, over 1,000 displaced

Santo Domingo.- Over 1,000 people were displaced from their homes and 205houses were damaged from flooding in the aftermath of a powerful low pressuresystem whose downpours drenched most of the country, the Emergency OperationsCenter (COE) said Thursday.

The first response agency said the National District and SanCristóbal (especially Villa Altagracia), Maria Trinidad Sanchez, La Romana,Azua, Peravia, Sanchez Ramirez and Monte Plata provinces are still under aflash flood warning.

Meanwhile b LaAltagracia, Duarte (Bajo Yuna), El Seibo, San Jose Ocoa, Hato Mayor, Espaillat,Puerto Plata, Santiago, Monsignor Nouel, San Pedro de Macoris, Dajabon,Montecristi, Santiago Rodriguez, Valverde and La Vega provinces are under a flash flood alert.
